Australian Solar Power is an editorial website. It is not a customer database dressed up as a magazine. This privacy page tells you what we actually handle.
What this site is for
We publish independent guides about household rooftop solar in Australia. You can read them without creating an account. We do not require a name to open how solar works or rebate basics.
Contact form
If you use the form on Contact, you provide a name, email address, topic, and message. The form uses FormSubmit’s AJAX endpoint to email that information to the editorial inbox. FormSubmit is a third-party processor. Their handling of submissions is governed by their own terms and privacy documentation. We use the message to consider corrections and genuine publisher queries.
Please do not send identity documents, electricity bills, meter numbers, photos of switchboards, or payment details. We do not need them and we cannot look after them as a design file.
We do not sell contact-form contents to installers. We do not operate a “three quotes” panel.
Hosting, logs, and analytics
The site may be hosted on infrastructure that collects ordinary server logs (IP address, user agent, requested path, time). Those logs exist to keep the site up and to diagnose errors. We do not use them to build a marketing profile of your roof.
If a future analytics or error-reporting tool is added, it should be documented here. At rebuild, this site does not require an account cookie to read content. A session cookie may exist for the Keystatic admin area, which is not a public feature of the consumer guide.
Keystatic and administration
/keystatic/ is a content-management UI for publishers. It is not a consumer login. Do not enter personal stories there.
Third-party links
Guides link to the Clean Energy Regulator, energy.gov.au, the Clean Energy Council, Solar Accreditation Australia, AEMO, and state program sites. Those sites have their own privacy notices. Clicking them is a decision to deal with that agency.
Children
This is not a service directed at children. Do not send us information about a minor’s household in the contact form.
How long messages are kept
Editorial emails are kept only as long as needed to act on a correction or to evidence a conversation we must remember (for example, a legal notice). We are not a CRM.
Access and correction
Australian privacy law may give you rights in respect of personal information we hold. If you believe we hold personal information about you — most likely a contact-form email — use the contact form with the topic “Privacy” and describe the message. We will need enough detail to find it. We will not send you someone else’s submission.
Overseas processing
FormSubmit and hosting providers may process data outside Australia. If that is not acceptable, do not use the form. You can still read the guides.
Changes
If the way we handle contact messages changes in a material way, we will update this page. The footer disclaimer still applies; this page is the privacy-specific companion to the disclaimer.
Contact for privacy questions
Use the form, choose a clear topic, and do not include extra personal data “just in case”. The less you send, the less there is to protect.
What we do not collect on purpose
We do not ask for your NMI, meter number, concession status, household income, or roof photos. Those data belong in an installer’s design file and in government portals that have a legal reason to hold them. If a future version of this site ever added a calculator that requested them, that would be a different product and would need a different notice. This rebuild does not include that calculator.
We do not use the contact form as a quiet lead-gen channel. The destination address is the editorial inbox named in the site configuration. FormSubmit is used because it is an AJAX mail drop, not because it is a CRM.
Cookies and similar technologies
Reading the public hubs does not require you to accept a marketing cookie wall. Browser storage may still appear for ordinary site function. The Keystatic admin UI is a publisher tool; it is not your account.
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we still do not have a behavioural advertising pixel to honour — because we did not add one. That is the entire tracking strategy: mostly none.
Complaints
If you believe personal information has been mishandled, contact us first via the form with the topic “Privacy”. You may also have the right to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. We would rather fix a small inbox mistake than wait for a formal complaint, so start with the URL of this page and the date you submitted a message.
